Advocate for climate health care and our vulnerable older adults!

On July 1, 2025 the Senate passed what is being referred to as the "Big Beautiful Bill" with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie breaking vote (51-50). Republican Senators Paul (KY), Tillis (NC), and Collins (ME) joined all Democrats in voting against the bill. The bill now goes back to the House for a vote.

Your urgent action is needed today as the bill could come for a vote as soon as tomorrow. President Trump has demanded Congress provide the final bill to the President's Desk by July 4th.

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill would add at least $3.3 trillion to the national debt over a decade exceeding the $2.4 trillion price of the version passed in the House in May. For many, the $1.1 trillion in health care cuts, nearly $1 trillion of them to Medicaid, causing 11.8 million more Americans to become uninsured by 2034, are some of the most staggering aspects of the bill. The bill would rollback tax credits for clean energy investments, electric vehicles, and home efficiency improvements, critical incentives needed for the transition to a clean energy future.

Here is a link to some additional important information about this bill.

Call your U.S. House Representative today and tell them to vote no on HR1:

You can use this script when you call:

Good morning. My name is ________. I am a constituent of Representative ________ and a nurse. As a nurse I cannot support a bill that will deprive millions of Americans of healthcare through Medicaid cuts. Having access to healthcare through Medicaid ensures that people have access to preventative care and critical health services and reduces healthcare costs.

I am also very concerned about the environmental rollbacks included in the bill. As a nurse I am seeing everyday how climate change is impacting the health of my patients. I strongly support clean energy investments and environmental protections. Environmental protections and clean energy investments are investments in the health of our nation. Any rollbacks will lead to more people suffering and requiring costly medical interventions.

Please vote no on the budget bill HR1. Thank you!
