On behalf of the GAPNA Health Affairs Committee:
The House of Representatives is currently considering a Senate-endorsed budget proposal that includes major cuts to the Medicaid program, which provides healthcare for 1 in 4 Americans, including millions of older adults.
Now is an important time to share your experiences working with dual-eligible (Medicare plus Medicaid) older adults.
Ohio Representatives Bob Latta (R-District 5) and Greg Landsman (D-District 1) serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee. If the budget proposal is passed, the committee will be told to find billions of dollars in savings, the bulk of which would have to come from making changes to Medicaid.

"Dear XXX, I am your constituent from [city, state], and I am writing to you as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee to express my support for Medicaid funding. As you know, Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of older adults, including 7.2 million low-income seniors who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, and it provides critical funding for long-term care, covering more than half of nursing home residents and home- and community-based services. As an advanced practice nurse who works in XXX setting with YYY patients, I am very concerned about the effects of reduction to the Medicaid budget for my patients and their families. Thank you so much for your consideration, Name/address"
